earthbound is up there as one of my all-time favorite games. i'm not exaggerating when i say this game played a huge part in the direction my art would eventually take. in my more serious pieces, especially the happier ones, you can trace a lot of the themes back to earthbound and undertale. not only is earthbound a wonderful game that paved the way for many rpgs after it, but it's a deeply meaningful game for me. the themes of hope and love found throughout and the game's firmly held belief that even small acts of kindness can change the world resonate with me in a way little else does.

madness: project nexus is just flat-out insane. i love it. this game is fantastic. the writing is super funny and the combat (ha) is just plain dumb fun. nothing beats noticing your sword is about to break, deciding to throw it to make that last hit really count, and watching as it flies and lodges itself firmly in a grunt's head. project nexus is ludicrous balls-to-the-wall insane violence.
... also i have a stupid amount of gender envy from deimos.

starbound is... not a good game. like i'm speaking quite objectively here, it honestly kinda sucks a bit without mods. despite this, i love starbound. i have an embarassing amount of hours logged in this game, and i'm sure i'll have far more even long after i've written this. there's just something about it, i don't know what it is. the fact that i almost only ever play as novakids or avali should tell you a lot about my character and style sensibilities.

yeah yeah i know, video games is a pretty basic-ass interest. idc. i've been playing video games in some capacity since i had the motor skills to use a controller, and i don't plan on stopping til arthritis strikes me down. hell, even then i'll probably find some way to keep playing lmao

mystery skulls is just one of those artists i always come back to. i got into his work around 2016, not long after the first couple animated mvs were out. not much else to say, really. i've been a big fan ever since. still waiting on that next music video tho ,, 😭 mysteryben. mysteryben if you can hear me. please i'm fucking begging you

femtanyl's music is fucking awesome. it's like warhead candies for my ears. her music is probably a bit of an acquired taste, but man is it a taste i have. not only do i love the songs, but i LOVE the art that she (and occasionally other people) draws for the albums too!

i've loved porter robinson's stuff ever since i discovered him in 2014 when i heard sad machine for the first time. nurture in particular is an album i hold near and dear to my heart, though. i discovered this album at a less than happy time in my life, and it resonated with me a lot. his most recent album, "SMILE :D" is also fantastic! russian roulette is a particular favorite of mine.

these guys are just a good time. i love everything they've put out! also shoutout to alchemist in particular for being inspired by FMA:B (that's true! look it up!)

anyways, i fully expect good kid to be pretty high on my spotify unwrapped this year LMAO. i don't have anything particularly meaningful or whatever to say about them, i just. really enjoy their music.

who up glassin they beach

jokes aside, i ADORE glass beach. they only have 2 albums at the moment, but they're both chock-full of bangers. bedroom community in particular is one i really love. it's the kinda song you scream-sing along to in your car while you're driving. it's very cathartic! the second album, "plastic death" is a bit more... melancholy? subdued? but it's just as lovely.

emma essex, lapfox, halley labs, or whatever one of the fifty-something aliases (barely an exaggeration) you know them by, i can almost guarantee that you've heard at least one song by this artist. i don't often talk about my love for their music but god damn it does this shit slap. my particular faves are anything under the aliases of bandetto, the quick brown fox, and rotteen!

i spend a lot of my time listening to music. like a lot. if i have some time to myself, odds are you'll find me with headphones on, listening to something on youtube or spotify. my tastes can be described as "whatever keeps understimulation at bay," and as such there's a lot that i'll listen to and even enjoy! here's a small selection of some of my favorite artists.

psst... click on the images to view them full size!(may not work on mobile, sorry)

i've been drawing quite literally since i was physically capable of doing so. it's safe to say that it's my greatest passion and likely a special interest of mine at this point. no matter what happens, how deep of a creative rut i get stuck in, i always come back to art in the end. creating is, on some level, what keeps me alive. as long as there are new things to make, i will remain. and there will always be something new to create. i've tried just about every creative outlet i could get my hands on, regardless of medium. 2d, 3d, written, doesn't matter.

i fucking love lancer. holy shit man. i truly cannot stress enough how much i love this system. at the time of writing this (november 2024), my friends and i just finished a roughly 9 months long lancer campaign- well, the first act of a larger story. if you're at all interested in lancer, i can almost guarantee that you're familiar with vexwerewolf's ransom letter cut and paste style memes of the various frames that you can use. well not only is she a fantastic meme-smith, she also is writing a campaign called "in golden flame" that my friends and i have been playing! it is a genuinely fantastic piece of work and i can't recommend it enough.

i have not yet gotten the chance to play CAIN yet (we were waiting til after we finished IGF act 1) but man am i excited to sink my teeth into this system. it's made by some of the same folks who worked on lancer and it just OOZES style. to give you a good idea of what it's about, imagine chainsaw man's public safety division meets the scp foundation and youll have a good start. throw in a little mob psycho, jjk, and some catholic imagery for flavor while you're at it.

i'll be the first to say that i'm really not good at improv. despite this, i love playing tabletop games with my friends. i absolutely love the collaborative storytelling the format is built off of, and it's a shockingly effective means of exploring your own identity and learning more about each other as well. also it's just really fun to make characters together and be super insane about them LOL
